In the third and final book in this trilogy, Mama, the enduring matriarch of the Migliore family, completes the family’s story. As the director of the Italian Beneficial Society in Cordoba, she is knowledgable about all of the events happening within the Argentinian Italian community as well as within her own extended family. 

She watches with growing concern as the military regime that replaced Peron institutes martial law and Argentina’s economy collapses. After returning from a family reunion in Italy, Mama becomes suspicious of a trusted family member as a possible Nazi spy who is seeking to steal the priceless jewels hidden during World War II and brought to Argentina by the callous manipulation of her trusting family.
